I somehow always manage to be both ahead of a curve and behind it. I created this blog long ago, before blogs really took off. Then I never got around to actually making any entries. So now that even my mother, who doesn't have an online acount, has a blog, here I am making my first entry.
An inauspicious beginning, but let's see if I can't make up for lost time.
What I'm reading: Nothing really. I just finished a compendium of Jack Vance's Dying Earth novels. I'm vascillating between starting something new or revisiting something old. And I'm also torn between fruit (fiction, tasty) and veggies (non-fiction, good for you).
What I'm listening to: Masta Ace's Long Hot Summer is my new fave. I'm also finally coming out of the electro/old-school mood I've been in for a while. I now have more hip hop music from the 80s than I could possibly hear. And I realized that I was beginning to seek ever-more-rare fare. I was at risk of becoming one of those intense collectors who sit chained to their p2p clients and trading boards, haggling and paranoid and entirely consumed by the process of acquiring.
I started because I wanted to get copies of albums I already had on now-rotting cassettes. I accomplished that goal a long time ago. I should have stopped when I started downloading music I wouldn't listen to back in the day because it was wack (e.g. - Shocky Shay) and won't listen to now. I think I realized I had hit bottom when I began seeking out a Renard with No Regard lp.
